The global IoT market is expected to reach a value of USD 1,386.06 billion by 2026 from USD 761.4 billion in 2020 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.53%, during the period 2021-2026. With the development of wireless networking technologies, the emergence of advanced data analytics, a reduction in the cost of connected devices, an increase in cloud platform adoption, the market is expected to grow at a positive rate.
Dr.Rafia Mumtaz received her Ph.D. degree from University of Surrey, UK in 2010. She is currently a Tenured Associate Professor and director of Internet of Things(IoT) lab at National University of Sciences and Technology(NUST), Pakistan. She has a commendable research record and was conferred Women of Wonders Award, 2021, for her contribution in precision agriculture. She was awarded School Best Researcher Award in 2019. She was included in directory of Productive Scientist of Pakistan by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, 2017. Her key research initiative includes establishment of IoT lab at NUST-SEECS, 2018. She has published high quality research papers in reputed ISI indexed and impact factor journals and secured several competitive national and international research grants. She trained various students as part of her received funding, which is a key for the sustainability of education programs in a developing country like Pakistan. Most of them are employed in leading multinational companies or pursuing higher education in top international universities. Some of her notable grants include HEC-NCAI(PKR 9.447 Million), 2021, Erasmus (60,000 euros), 2020, DAAD, Germany(78,758 Euros), 2018, Global Challenge Research Fund(GCRF), UK(19000 pounds), 2018, HEC-NRPU(PKR 3.61 million), 2018, 68,800 Saudi Riyal from deanship of scientific research at King Faisal University, 2016. and 50,000 Euros from European Space Agency (ESA), 2011. She has two design patents including MAPTU-Mobile Atmospheric Pollutant Telemetry Unit[Patent#20058-D], 2020 and AgriEye Mobile Unit[Patent#20405-D], 2021. Her accomplishments trajectory and contributions are at par with academicians in top universities worldwide and considered exceptional compared to her peers.
