This course is designed for the rig supervisors and drilling engineers progressing into mid-level management roles with additional responsibilities, such as, drilling superintendent and drilling managers. It covers the
skills needed to manage drilling operations and improve performance.
The experience has shown that rig foreman and drilling engineers are not always familiar with the needed
skills of project management, business drivers and economics. Successful implementation of operations is different than successful business management. It means that some aspects of risk management and contingency planning are not fully understood, which exposes operating companies to unnecessary and easy-to-avoid pitfalls.
It is a mid-level course designed for professionals seeking performance improvement, business advantages and progression in to higher level of responsibilities.
What will this course cover?
The course covers all the technologies involved in managing drilling operations. While looking at the obvious operational aspects of drilling oil and gas wells, it is important to tackle the less obvious fields of
contingency planning, contracts, economics, optimization and problem-solving. A section is devoted to creation of a drilling policy manual, which serves as a back bone for an operating company for operations.
Rig selection and acceptance is discussed in detail. Land and offshore operations are broken down into their components in a flow chart format.
It is assumed that the participants are already familiar with the drilling equipment, operations and terminology.
